The Fifth Sector Irrigation Project consists of a pumping station consisting of four pumping groups (three of them are operational and the fourth is reserve) on the right bank of the Euphrates River, in addition to a spiral lifting station to irrigate part of the lands above the water level in the irrigation network

The irrigation system in the project is shallow through an irrigation network consisting of main and branch channels of box-section, a network of prefabricated concrete channels of semi-circular cross-section, and a drainage network consisting of 44 vertical drainage wells, in addition to open drains

The pumping and lifting stations and vertical drainage wells were vandalized, in addition to some damage to the irrigation networks as a result of sabotage work on the one hand, and maintenance work was stopped due to the loss of mechanisms on the other hand
