Irrigation projects of the lower Euphrates basin in Deir ez-Zor:

After inspecting the pumping stations in the projects (Sectors 3-5-7 - 1320 hectares) with an area of ​​about (24,000) hectares located on the right bank of the Euphrates River, which was liberated by the bravery of the Syrian Arab Army, it was found that they suffered very severe damage, affecting about (60) % of the equipment) in addition to the transformation centers, power transmission lines, and vertical drainage well pumps, which are currently out of service. The technical committees made an inventory of the damages to the sites they were able to access.

The Foundation, in coordination with the Ministry and the guardianship authorities in Deir ez-Zor, took the initiative to set priorities for the rehabilitation of projects based on the economic and social importance. Accordingly, the Foundation began to rehabilitate the third sector project, which is of great importance and priority to begin its rehabilitation in terms of its proximity to the city of Deir ez-Zor and its area of ​​(10,905) hectares.The project area has witnessed a steady return of the people, and it will contribute greatly to their stability and improvement of their income. Accordingly, a contract was made with the Military Construction Implementation Corporation to rehabilitate the pumping and lifting stations for the project, and put the project into investment under the auspices of the Prime Minister on 12/28/2020. The Corporation has a set of contracts to rehabilitate the irrigation and drainage networks in the projects of the fifth and third sectors in order to be ready to receive irrigation water, as well as contracts for the rehabilitation of power transmission lines.

  • The Foundation took the initiative to present the fifth sector project with an area of ​​(3565) hectares to the donor organizations, and it received the attention and approval of the FAO and WFP to implement it, and they were provided with technical conditions books and bills of quantities. The project was implemented and put into investment under the auspices of the Prime Minister on 12/28/2020.
  • As for the seventh sector project, located in the Al-Bukamal area, with an area of ​​(7562) hectares, the electrical and mechanical equipment of the pumping stations has been inventoried and described.
  • The relationship and support that the Foundation receives from international organizations has been strengthened in light of the Ministry’s support and the intensive follow-up by the Foundation with donors, which have yielded satisfactory results to date, and we expect more cooperation during the coming period.
