Meeting of the Minister of Water Resources with the representative of the FAO

The Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad, discussed with the representative of the United Nations Agriculture and Food Organization (FAO) in Syria, Mike Robson, and its technical director, Dr. Wael Seif, to enhance joint cooperation in the areas of implementing and rehabilitating irrigation projects, identifying water needs and training

The two sides discussed setting quality programs for farmers to train them on irrigation scheduling at the field level, in addition to joint coordination with the aim of defining training programs to qualify technical cadres at the General Organization for Land Reclamation and the Public Authority for Water Resources, in a way that enhances the technical expertise of workers, both in their fields of work, by selecting trainees according to technical foundations and standards. It specifies the desired purpose of the training, the appropriate person for it, and how to apply what it has learned in its field of work

The two sides also touched on the project of installing and testing the second main engine at the #Tal_Hasel pumping station in #Aleppo governorate within the framework of the project to protect livelihoods and enhance the resilience of Syrian families, as the project is nearing completion and is under trial operation procedures, where the two sides agreed to overcome all difficulties encountered in operation due to the Great benefit to the farmers

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Eng. Jihad Kanaan, Minister's Advisor, Engineer Osama Akhras, and Planning Director, Engineer Bassam Abu Harb
