Monitoring the reality of irrigation canals in the eastern countryside

In implementation of the outcomes of the previous meeting of the Agricultural Sub-Committee headed by #Governor_of_Aleppo Hussein Diab regarding addressing problems related to irrigation canals in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, a member of the Executive Office of the Agriculture Sector “Bakkar Hammadi” and both the Director of Agriculture, the President of the Aleppo Farmers Union and the Director of Operation and Maintenance visited the government irrigation projects in Maskana district to find out the readiness of the channels and the stages reached by maintenance in the framework of following up the implementation of the agricultural plan for the wheat season

Hammadi indicated the importance of addressing all outstanding difficulties and implementing the specific plan to secure the water needed to irrigate agricultural lands in support of the wheat crop, pointing to the need for the people to cooperate with the concerned authorities to protect these channels from malfunctions

The Director of Agriculture, Eng. Radwan Harsouni, explained that the total cultivated area of ​​irrigated wheat in the Manbij region is 30,000 hectares, which constitutes a third of the cultivated area in the governorate, which is 92 thousand hectares.

The Director of Operation and Maintenance, Engineer Ahmed Al-Ali, gave a detailed explanation of the priorities of the maintenance process in the channels, with a timetable for its completion, indicating that the first farm will be maintained after an accurate inventory of the existing faults has been made, while work will be done on the Al-Sadaqa farm during the current week.
